Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

Our Primary FOBISIA team were back in school on Thursday after a very successful games. They came back with 5 trophies and over 200 individual medals. There were some brilliant performances including a High Jump record for Frances in Year 6.

It was also another busy weekend of sport for the Dover Court community. Three Under 11 Netball teams were in action on Saturday at the ACSIS finals and they came away with a Gold  and a Bronze medal. Our Secondary students also competed in the ACSIS Athletics finals with 3 of our students winning medals.

Congratulations to:

Under 12 boys 100m + 200m – Aaron

Under 12 Girls High Jump – Chiara

Under 12 Girls Discus – Asha

I am very grateful to our PE team for their hard work over the weekend. Competitive and participation sport has grown enormously in the last few years. We are are adding an additional PE teacher to the team for next year and increasing our support staff in PE so we can continue to develop this important aspect of the school.

Many thanks to all the parents who completed the Parent Satisfaction Survey in March and the recent CIS one. We received the results for both surveys last week and we are very pleased with the feedback. I will send a fuller summary of the surveys later this week.

I apologise once again for the miscommunication over our change of bus company. We have worked hard with Kal Transport over the past 3 years to improve their service and our most recent Parent survey confirmed that satisfaction levels have increased. Regrettably Kal Transport has made the decision to move away from some of their school contracts and so we have been going through a tender process with potential new providers. We will shortly announce our new bus partners and will provide all the information needed for a smooth transfer of operator.

I wish you all the best for the coming week.

Mr. Christopher Short
Principal

Daily Mile

This week the PE department will be running the ‘Daily Mile’ and are inviting Secondary students to join them. The ‘Daily Mile’ is a UK initiative to tackle childhood obesity and the physical inactivity crisis. This is an optional 15 minute run aiming to make children fitter, healthier and happier and have a positive impact on their behaviour and concentration levels.

To take part students need to meet Ms. Dodson on the field at 7:45am in their PE kit. Students will then need to get changed back into their uniform once completed at around 8am. Students do not need to take part every day but are welcome to!

Please watch the short video on the website if you would like to learn more about the ‘Daily Mile’.
