Staff Profile: Ian Moody

Ian Moody

Counselling and Guidance

Ian gained his counselling qualifications at the University of South Australia (Graduate Diploma in Educational Counselling) and the University of Nebraska (Master’s Degree in Counselling).

Prior to joining Dover Court, Ian has been a school counsellor at UWCSEA (Singapore) for 12 years and Glenunga International High School (Adelaide) for 6 years. He has also been a state government education advisor and career counsellor in various schools for 6 years prior to working in Singapore. Ian has also taught High School English in Himeji, Japan as well as taught Mathematics and Physics in various schools in South Australia. During his teaching and counselling career, Ian has developed many programs to support the well-being of students and families in a school context. These include mentoring, Ambassadors, Mindfulness, Social groups, Emotional Intelligence as well as leading expeditions, conducting workshops for parents/staff and establishing support groups for dads and single parents.

Ian has a passion for working in the international education sector as there are many opportunities to develop cultural understanding and study the impact of mobility around the globe for students and their families. He is a life long learner loves to travel, play sport and meet new people. His latest adventure involves buying a small house in the mountains in France where he can enjoy his favourite sports of skiing and hiking with his wife and 2 children. Learning French is a challenge but experiencing the culinary delights of France is quite an incentive to master the language.
