Staff Profile: Philip Jury

Philip Jury

Head of Secondary School Mathematics

Philip has an Honours degree in Mathematics from Swansea University and a post graduate certificate of education from Durham University, UK.

Philip joins Dover Court from Epsom College, Malaysia. Everything about mathematics has Phil hooked, but a particular interest in its philosophy defines him as a teacher. This enthusiasm is matched by his pedagogical inquiry in which he is specialising in meta-cognition and memory retention. He wishes to develop these aspects in his time at Dover Court and will be doing his Masters in Educational Research in the coming year.

Dover Court is Phil’s third school, having taught in both Malaysia and the Channel Islands.

Phil is an avid chess player and in each previous school has set up clubs and organised tournaments for pupils to compete in. Phil is also a keen Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader, and is passionate about developing students holistically in their education.
