Alex Darbyshire graduated from the University of Reading in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and went on to study his MSc in Information Systems Management at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 2013. Alex spent a couple of years working in the IT industry, developing apps for elite sports teams, before turning to teaching, completing his postgraduate Certificate in Education at Canterbury Christchurch University in 2016.
Alex’s began teaching in South East England where he taught Computer Science in a large Secondary school and went on to become Director of the school’s rugby academy. During this time Alex developed his teaching skills and worked to instil a positive growth mindset in his students, encouraging them to take on challenges and not see any limit to their potential.
In 2018 Alex moved to Kuala Lumpur to take on a lead role in Computing at a newly formed Australian curriculum school, allowing him to design and implement the varied subject options on offer before making the move to Dover Court.
Outside of school, Alex is a keen rugby player and can often be found coaching, playing, or watching the sport in his free time. He is also an avid traveller, having backpacked around Asia and parts of South America with his wife and, being a computing teacher, is partial to the occasional video game.
