Staff Profile: Marianne Harvey

Marianne Harvey

Secondary School Head of EAL

Marianne Harvey has a BA in Humanities from the University of Surrey.  She completed a PGCE in English at Anglia Ruskin University and is CELTA qualified.  She has completed two qualifications in management at The Institute of Education London.  

Marianne Harvey is Head of EAL at Dover Court International School and has been teaching since 2001 both in the UK and abroad. She spent 10 years teaching English Language and Literature at secondary level, including IB and A level. She has been in management for the past 10 years and previously set up and ran an interim school for new arrivals to a large central London borough.

While at Dover Court, Marianne has facilitated the Nord Anglia EAL qualification worldwide and delivered EAL specific INSET to teaching staff.  She has also studied to become an ELKLAN trainer and for a Nord Anglia middle management qualification.

Marianne uses positive reinforcement and understands the importance of creating a happy and secure learning environment for each student.  Her lessons are designed and delivered so as to celebrate each student’s individuality.

Outside of school, Marianne is a keen scuba diver and loves to travel.   She really enjoys living in South East Asia and all the wonderful travel it affords.
