The Business Studies Department has flourished in its second year, with Ms. Stevenson joining Mr. Wolstenholme, to teach Year 10 IGCSE and some Year 12 AS level. The students have been involved with several initiatives and proved themselves, as ever, to be committed, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial. The QR codes business competition proved very popular across the Secondary school and was won by a Year 10 girls’ team. In Term 1, the Year 12 Young Enterprise team, ’Wicked’, raised money and made profit for the school charity, Sympameals and the Year 10 Enterprise ECA is currently completing the International School’s Enterprise Challenge. Our students lent their skills to the Student Council in organising and managing The Glow Party fund raising event. All these activities have helped students to appreciate the importance of business activity and the social responsibilities that tomorrow’s business leaders must have.
In the classroom the subject continues to prove popular with a good take up for next year amongst our Year 9 and Year 11 students. Many of our current Year 12 students are looking to study a business related degree at university. We are continuing our A Level teaching next year but have made excellent strides in preparing for the IB course starting in 2016. Staff are now trained and ready to take this exciting new step and teaching resources are being developed to give students more challenging and exciting learning experiences.
Finally, our students were well prepared for their IGCSE and AS level examinations this summer and we look forward to some excellent results.
