FOBISIA Golf Tournament 2017

12.03:
The BIS Golf team arrived safely at the amazing Angsana Golf resort in Phuket. We were warmly greeted at the airport by our hosts from the British International School Phuket. After check in at the hotel, we decided to head to the incredible Laguna golf course, where we were then all able to practice our chipping and putting. We then finished the day with a wonderful team dinner at the hotel before having an early night.

13.03: Practice day
It's a beautiful day in Phuket, the sun is shinning and it's super hot. We all woke up early and went for a team breakfast. We then left the hotel at 8:30am to head to the golf course where we were assigned our lovely caddies, who were all dressed in pink. We soon discovered that they could provide us with a wealth of knowledge about the course and helped the students with club selections. The students all completed a round of 18 holes on the course in preparation for day 1 of the tournament starting on Tuesday. In the evening we are going to visit the British International School Phuket for the tournament opening ceremony and for some ice-breaker putting and chipping games.

14.03: Tournament Day 1
We all woke up to a beautiful morning in Phuket with perfect weather for golf. Our students all had early tee off times, so we made sure they all had time to practice their swings before hitting the course. All students were in different groups, teed off in 8 minute intervals and started at either hole 1 or 10. They looked really confident and all hit some excellent tee shots. It was fantastic to hear our students speaking English and making friends with other students from different schools and countries. We were also really proud to hear them congratulating students when they hit good shots. There was an incredibly positive atmosphere on the course and all of our students had great fun. Our students scored plenty of pars, birdies and even some eagles. Total scores are currently being calculated by the golf club and we'll hear the tee off times for day 2 of the competition later tonight.

15.03: The final day of tournament

We've had a fantastic last day of the tournament! Our students have really enjoyed themselves and started the second day of the competition confidently. Their fantastic attitude, manners and cheerfulness were praised by the event organisers, teachers and parents from other schools, which was great to hear. Our students performed superbly and hit some excellent scores on the final day of the competition. We are extremely proud of them all! We are also really pleased to announce that two of our students received FOBISIA trophies for their outstanding performance on the golf course. Bao Long Nguyen achieved third place for his tournament gross score in the under 13 boys category. Phuong Long Pham came first place for his tournament nett score in the over 15 boys category. Full tournament scores will be sent to us in the next couple of days.
