Competitive sport has gone from strength to strength at British International School Hanoi over the course of this year. We participated in local and international events, and the school is a full member of the Hanoi Activities Conference and the Federation of British International Schools in Asia.

In October 2016 we hosted the Nord Anglia Global Games. Students in Years 5 – 8 represented the school in Football, Athletics and Swimming. Our Primary and Secondary teams excelled during the competition. In November, the Over 15 Football boys represented British International School at the International Phuket 7 a-side tournament. They played very well and finished 4th in the plate competition.

The under 15 FOBISIA Games was the first FOBISIA event the school participated in. Students had the opportunity to showcase their sporting ability in Football, Athletics, Rounders and Basketball. Students travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal. Many of the students returned to Vietnam with various coloured medals and experienced a higher level of competitive sport, as well as made friends from schools throughout Asia.

Key stage 3 students represented British International School Hanoi at the U13 FOBISIA in Rayong, Thailand. Students were tested in their ability in Swimming, Athletics, Football and Basketball. The team won the Athletics and Football and finished second in Swimming and Basketball. Just like the U15 participants, the under 13 students developed their competitive sporting talent and made new friends from various schools in Asia.

The Primary FOBISIA team consisting of Year 4 – 6 students had the opportunity to travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Students participated in Swimming, Athletics, T- ball and Football over the four-day event. Excellent endeavors from all of the students during their trip ensured that they remained focussed and successfully returned as the winners of the Athletics event, third in swimming and received gold medals for football and silver for T- ball.

British International School Hanoi entered a Golf team in the FOBISIA golf tournament which was held in Phuket, Thailand. The team showcased great golfing ability and won the over 15 boys and achieved 3rd place on for the under 13 Boys category.

In the local Hanoi Activities Conference our teams participated in all the tournaments. Our Primary team participated in T-ball, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Tag Rugby and Swimming. The Key stage 3 Boys and Girls participated in the HAC Basketball, Football and Volleyball. Through all the seasons all the teams developed their skills and we are optimistic for next year.

In the Junior Varsity league we qualified for the final four tournaments for Boys Volleyball, Boys Football, Girls Basketball and Girls Football. The Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball team had a fantastic season and were overall winners in the HAC league. Junior Varsity Basketball Girls team played in the final in the HAC tournament and were awarded overall 2nd place after the season. The Varsity Boys Football Team qualified and played in the final HAC tournament. They were 3rd overall in the HAC championship and the Junior Varsity Boys Football team successfully defended their HAC title, remaining the number one team in Hanoi.

The school Tennis team played in a doubles and a singles tournament and BIS were the doubles champions. The Swimming team represented the school in 3 swimming galas and many set new personal records in the season. The Badminton team had a great day and will build on the experience for next year.

Throughout every sporting season British International School Hanoi students have demonstrated good skill and sportsmanship. The department is looking forward to developing and building on these achievements next year, during which there are more national and international events planned. All of this is only possible with the commitment from all the parents and students in supporting all the events which the Physical Education department is coordinating. We would like to thank you for your support and well done to all the families who were part in making this a fantastic sporting year.
