Dear Parents,

Only three days in school this week however so much has happened! I must start by congratulating the Year 3 children who went home yesterday after lessons and returned with pillows, pajamas, swimsuits, teddy bears and a toothbrush; yes, it was the annual sleepover for our 7 and 8 year olds! I was fortunate to enjoy an evening of entertainment with our young adventurers before disappearing as beds were prepared and the evening viewing began. What a lot was crammed into 3 hours of fun! The swimming activity with Mr. Adams, Ms. Fitzpatrick, Ms. Mi and Ms. Hai was a very popular choice; the games and free play were enjoyed by all. Other choices were trampoline bouncing with Ms. Upton and Ms. Cat; badminton with Mr. Wild and Ms. Dung; football with Mr. Holmes and Basketball with Ms. Xuyen.

All those energetic activities certainly helped build an appetite! The children showered, changed into sleepwear and gathered in the canteen where Mrs. Willson and Ms. Watts greeted us with pizzas and salad. I returned this morning for a breakfast of scrambled eggs, baked beans and toast, in the canteen, to see if the children had survived a night at BIS! Although there were one or two tired children, most said they slept well in the library. Everyone agreed, it had been a fantastic evening!

To ensure safety and fun for two classes of children, involves a lot of planning, support and enthusiasm. I would like to personally thank all the teachers and teaching assistants in the Primary who helped out both last night and this morning. It was a real treat for the children to be cooked for and served by teachers this morning after such an amazing evening. A special thank you goes to Mr. Adams, Ms. Watts, Ms. Hai, Ms. Mi and Ms. Dung who slept over with the children and continued with their teaching today. I’m sure everyone involved will sleep tonight!

Two class assemblies were held today: Ms. Isabelle’s class, F2, taught us some pirate speak in the EYC assembly whilst Ms. Tong’s class, 5S shared their learning about what life was like during World War 2. Thank you to all parents who supported the assemblies: the children really do love an audience.

Finally, today a further parent workshop was delivered by our talented teachers. The subject covered was the serious issue of on-line safety and how our children can become better digital citizens. Thank you to Mr. Labelle and Mr. Trett for providing a thought provoking presentation with lots of useful tips on how to monitor what your child is doing and accessing on their devices.
