Dear Parents,
Green Week has been a great way to raise awareness about the environment, our planet and our health. Educating students about our role in creating a more sustainable future through making simple actions become habits has been our goal - together, our simple actions can make a big difference! Students thought about promises they could make to themselves in order to help protect the environment and recorded these on recyclable leaves. By hanging the leaves on our BIS tree, we showed unity in our campaign to be a school that truly cares about and shows respect for our environment.

The Primary Student Council really took charge of all the activities this week and shared some of our achievements in assembly today. Some classes have been visited by the ‘Green Police’ to make sure we all remember to switch off lights and air conditioners when leaving classrooms. Other classes have been visited by secondary students who helped to make bird feeders which have been hung in our EYC garden areas. In addition, the results of the peace lily competition were announced. Ambitious selfie photo entries of the class plants with their carers were sent to, and judged by, Mr. Kevin. Winners were very busy this afternoon as they joined Mr Kevin in the BIS Garden and were invited to plant a fruit tree in our new orchard. Congratulations to Ms. Cat’s class in F3 who looked after Netty; Ms. Molly’s class in Yr 1 with Fern; Lilly Love was cared for by Ms. Alice’s class 2B; 3B won with Pea-Lily; Oscar the Year 5B lily and Great Gazoo from Mr Labelle’s class in Year 6.

Today, the school was a splash of green as children and staff showed unity by leaving uniforms at home and making a statement to end our Green Week. However, our green initiatives will not end today! Our special recycling bins outside the library and in the entrance of the EYC will remain in school and we will continue to collect plastic bottles and empty food containers, toilet rolls and kitchen rolls, cardboard, fabric off cuts and egg cartons. Keep bringing these items into school please!

Finally, congratulations to Year 5 who designed and produced recyclable bags which went on sale this week. In addition to helping us to cut down on the use of plastic bags, the sale of the re-useable bags raised money for our community partner, Hy Vong School for the deaf and disabled.

Young Hercules
Please don’t miss our amazing primary production, Young Hercules, which will be performed next Thursday @ 4pm. All parents are welcome to attend what promises to be a spectacular production staring all children from Year 4 to Year 6.
