Mr Simon Higham Weekly Update

28 August 2015

Dear Parents
It is my pleasure to share with you this week's update on the first three days back after the long summer holiday.
Thank you to all new parents who were present at Tuesday's 'New Pupil Orientation' meeting. I hope that this event allowed both you and your child(ren) to understand the main events and routines that we have at An Phu Primary Campus and also allow time to meet with your child's class teacher before school began. The full presentation from this event can be found on this link .

There were many bright and smiling faces around the playground on Wednesday morning, which created a smooth and effective start to the new school year. A big thanks to all parents for wearing your swipe card around your neck to ensure that we have a greater visibility of adults that are on campus at any given time. I am pleased to share with you that new swipe cards, with updated photo ID will be exchanged with parents (excluding those who are new to the school this year) later on in Term 1 - more details will be shared with you soon.

PTG Welcome Back Coffee

Coffee 1 coffee 2

The PTG arranged a 'Welcome Back' Coffee Morning today for all AP1 and AP2 parents that served as a great forum for parents to meet together to start the process of building and strengthening  a community that is vital to our school and the learning of our children. For more information about forthcoming PTG events, please look through the posts in the 'An Phu Primary PTG' section on the BIS HUB. I look forward to meeting for coffee again with all new parents on Tuesday 1st September.

Extra Curricular Clubs

By this time, all new parents should have received their CHQ logins, ready for the AP1 sign up for clubs that begins on Monday 31st August from 5.00pm. All other parents should have now logged into the system using their existing username/passwords or via the 'forgotton password' function on CHQ.
I have attached the Extra Curricular Clubs letter to today's email that gives you further information regarding club sign up, club selection and key contact people. Laptops for parents who need help to either login or make selections will be avaiable in the Main Office from Tuesday to Friday next week. The full Extra Curricular Club booklet can be accessed on the BIS HUB.

Meet the Teacher Evening

On Wednesday, I sent out a letter to invite all parents to the updated and reorganised Meet the Teacher evenings next week. I look forward to introducing you all to the class and specialist teachers. You will also have an opportunity to meet with your child's classteacher and other parents whose children are also in the class. Both sessions will begin in the Gym.
Mile Post 2 and 3 Parents (Y3 to Y6) - Tuesday 1st September, 5.00pm start
Mile Post F and 1 Parents (Y3 to Y6) - Thursday 3rd September, 5.00pm start

Do your children enjoy playing football in a friendly and challenging environment? Registration for all BIS students is on Saturday 5th September at 8:00am until 10:00am at BIS near the basket ball courts. Please come along and register to play every Saturday all year in term time. It is a fantastic experience to play with your BIS friends and colleagues.

App of the Week

If you have not already got a QR reader for your phone, then this app i-nigma is a great choice. A QR reader helps you read the QR codes which you will spot throughout the school. Why not try out i-nigma on the QR codes up in the Milepost 3 corridor?
