An Phu Coffee Morning

31 August 2015

The Parent Teacher Groups from An Phu Primary and Secondary joined forces for their first meeting of the new academic year.

It was an excellent opportunity for new parents to meet existing BIS parents and to get a feel for all of the wonderful activities that they can get involved in.

The activities on offer for new and existing parents ranged from social events, such as the annual wine and cheese night and the HCMC bus tour, to more serious community projects, such as E.A.S.T and The Mai Tam Project.

When addressing the parents, Mr. Simon Higham, An Phu Primary Head of Campus, said “Making a difference is what makes the difference”.

Those parents who are new to HCMC were extremely pleased with how they had been welcomed at BIS HCMC and were enthusiastic about getting involved.

Gulchachak Gataullina, a new parent with children at both campuses, even stated that “BIS was the only reason that [she] agreed to move to Vietnam”.  ‘Guli’ went on to say that her first impressions “are only getting better and better”.

When asked why the PTG was so important, Cindy Kazzi, PTG Vice-President at An Phu Secondary, said that “It is vital to give new parents to get to know the area and meet new people.”

This year the PTG at all three campuses are increasing their activities, and are hoping to create more opportunities for working parents to be able to attend functions. They are always looking for more volunteers and for parents to get involved in their activities, so if you would like to find out more, please explore the Parent’s Section of the HUB under each campus.
