Mr Simon Higham - Weekly Update 18th September 2015

18 September 2015

Dear Parents
It has been another busy (and wet) week at An Phu Primary Campus. Many thanks to all parents who braved the weather on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to attend our Pastoral Parent Meetings. This year, we have brought these meetings closer to the beginning of the academic year so that both teachers and parents can come together and discuss how children have settled and agree the next steps for learning and also begin to form that vital partnership that I have mentioned at the New Pupil Orientation and Meet the Teacher evenings. This is just the beginning of another exciting educational journey so please feel free to contact teachers either face to face, via the school diary or by email if you have any further questions, feedback or concerns.

The school diaries have been developed this year to try and help refine communication between each child, teacher and parent. Please ask your child to see their diary on a regular basis to look for comments from the teacher, timetables, stickers linked to our Aide Memoire, plus other notes on how you can further help by reading with your child at home. All parents are expected to sign the diary at least once every week to acknowledge that it has been seen.

I am pleased to share with you that on Tuesday, we had our first fire evacuation practice of the academic year. This went every smoothly and all children, teachers and adults on site were assembled and accounted for in 6 minutes 24 seconds. Over the year, we will have further unannounced fire evacuations and also practice our Lockdown procedure to ensure that all of our children and staff are well versed in these important emergency procedures.

Look Around AP1 - What Will You See?

I wonder what learning you would expect to see across our campus? Take a look at Ms Dee's post to find out more.

Thank you to all parents of children in EYFS who attended today's workshop. Please ensure that you have accepted the invitation to view and edit your child's online record of achievement. If you have not yet received this invitation, please speak directly with your child's class teacher. For more details about how the Learning Journies are managed and how they are used to further learning, please access the post by Ms Rachel Stewart, Assistant Milepost Leader and teacher of F1V.

New Staff at AP1

Having met with all new staff at An Phu Primary during the Meet the Teacher evenings, I would now like to invite you to get to know them even better. Each week, we will be interviewing two new members of the AP1 team to learn more about their first few weeks at our school. Click on the 'Life in Ho Chi Minh City' tab for the Meet our New Teachers post - this week, it's Ms Naomi (Y3) and Mr Chris (EAL).

The safety of every child within our care across the Nord Anglia Education Group is of utmost importance. Please be aware that all new visitors to our school receive the following reminders:
