A disappointing result for a squad full of promise at this years U14 Boys Basketball SISAC City Championships.

Coaches MVP:  Zim Do and Alexer Yap

BIS vs SSIS : 17-19 LOSE

BIS vs AMIS : 30-20  WIN

BIS vs ISHMC: 35-28 WIN

BIS vs AIS: 7-51 LOSE

Our first match was against SSIS ended in a loss. We started off slow at the start of the game, making mistakes such as not calling who we were marking or not following our man when he cut into the lanes. A perfect example of this is when their big man, who was dribbling the ball most of the time would always pass the ball near the three point line he got the the three point line and then cut in to receive the ball and make a layup. Towards the second half of the game we picked up the pace. In the end of the game we still lost but had almost brought it back due to our hard work in the second half.

Second, our match was against AMIS, which we won for the record of 1-1 in the tournament.  We started off better this game, learning from our mistakes in game 1 and managed to call out the mans we were marking. In result of this there was not much confusion in our defense making a more solid hold. However some things could be improved in our game, on the offensive end we were pressuring them but did not fight for the rebounds as much even though we had a larger team. We beat them 30-20.

Third and second last game of the day, slowly coming closer to the finals we played against ISHMC. Coming off of our recent win against AMIS we were motivated, giving us more morale we called our mans more. In our offense we played more aggressively resulting in fouls which was critical for the other team since after 5 team fouls we could get automatic free throws every foul. However what had not gone well was our defense on their ball handlers, their ball carriers always pushed the ball down the middle and either got a layup or they dished a pass out to the open man for a 2. In the end of the game we won 35-28 for a record of 2-1.

Now for our last and final match to decide the champion, we were driven and motivated to get this U14 SISAC Champions title. Playing against AIS we started the first minute of the game strong coming up with a shooting foul and knocking down 1 out of 2 free throws, later on in the first minute we drove down the lane and got a layup in to get a 3-0 lead. However after the first minute nothing went our way, we were forced to take bad shots and could not get rebounds both offensively and defensively most of the time leading to more second chance points for the opposition. More and more they kept getting rebounds and drives in the lead got larger. Eventually coming down to a loss with a score of 51-7. What we could have improved on was the communication and box out in order to get the rebounds more securely, also we need to stay on our designated man to prevent an opening in the defense and leave no man open forcing up bad shots from them.

We ended in a three way tie for SECOND, as the tie breaker they got the placements by checking the point differences between the three teams ending in ISHMC getting second place, SSIS with third, and BIS in fourth. AIS got the Champs title and AMIS got last place, we can learn from this to improve our game and hopefully get the championship next time.
