The highlight for many during International Week is the Global Café. It is certainly one of my favourite elements, not least for the wonderful array of food on offer but mainly for the opportunity for our International community of parents to come together and celebrate the unity among us. I lost count of the number of selfies being taken by parents from various countries all coming together, proud of their own country, culture and heritage but open to learning about others.
And then there was the food! A veritable feast from around the world! Sweet and savoury taste sensations meant everyone just kept coming back for more and more and more.
Once again, all were welcome. On Tuesday afternoon we welcomed over 100 community partners to join us and they were entertained by the parents dancing from Spain, Mexico Ukraine, India, and Thailand. Our cleaners, guards, teachers, teaching assistants, office staff and even the canteen staff were all treated to sumptuous food from around the globe.
More impromptu dancing followed on Wednesday afternoon when parents from many countries came together to dance and celebrate our unity here at BIS. This was after two full days serving our school community and the smiles remained throughout.
Special mention must be given to the PTG Global Café committee. The committee was made of Adrian, Andy, Gayatri, Eriko and Nathalie and lead by Lily who together co-ordinated the very successful 2-day event.
I’m already looking forward to next year!
