This year’s event allowed only limited numbers of participants able to attend per age group per school, so BIS took a smaller but extremely strong set of young athletes in their squad.
This made no difference to BIS HCMC retaining their trophy. Far from it. The technical precision and prowess of the BIS competitors, coupled with their steely determination and never say die attitude, meant that they won this year’s competition by even greater margins than previous. Most division were won by a 30-50% greater points score than the team in 2nd place, whereas the 15-19 girls nearly doubled the points score of the team in 2nd place.
Far too many standout performances to mention, with our athletes finishing in the top 3 in the vast majority of events and often two competitors in the top 5. A truly outstanding effort from the squad whose hard work in athletics club for the past 6 months really paid off. A special mention to all of those students not selected in the squad for the championships, who really trained hard and pushed the lucky 36 into being the best they possibly could be.
