Year 5 have been learning numerous DT (Design and Technology) skills over the past few weeks with their ‘Mars Rovers’. They have now had the additional challenge and opportunity to apply these skills to the ‘Blast Off!’ Exit Point for our IPC (‘Mission to Mars’) and Science (‘Earth and Space’) topics.
The rules were fairly simple: a self-propelled rocket to try and get as high up into the air as possible; no flames (!); test it at home before bringing in to school, apply common sense, etc!
Today we launched them and we were very impressed with the creativity and variety in thinking. Some of the efforts took some ‘interesting’ directions! Please take a look at the photos to see a sample.
Well done Year 5 and we hope there will be future projects where you can use this experience to your advantage.
