Nord Anglia Global Campus Sports Competition 2020 We recently took part in a NAE Global Campus Sports Competition, pitting our children against the best student athletes the Nord Anglia family has to offer from around the world. This competition consisted of a series of sporting events that united our schools in a time of difficulty, enabling our network to still compete against one another in events that could be performed at home and at school.

We recently took part in a NAE Global Campus Sports Competition, pitting our children against the best student athletes the Nord Anglia family has to offer from around the world. This competition consisted of a series of sporting events that united our schools in a time of difficulty, enabling our network to still compete against one another in events that could be performed at home and at school.

Over 5000 students from 34 global Nord Anglia Education schools took part in three sporting disciplines; namely Cross Country, Swimming and Tri-Field Athletics (Long Jump, High Jump and Javelin) with our youngest to oldest Junior and Secondary Campus children entered into the event. Our BIS HCMC sports stars devoted time and energy to gaining scores during lunchtime practices, PE lessons and whole school sports days and swim galas during term 1 of last year and were duly rewarded for their efforts.

BIS HCMC did not finish in the medal places for the Cross Country event but were outstanding in the pool and on the field, incredibly winning both the Swimming and Athletics competitions to be crowned NAE world champions in each of those events. What an amazing performance and accolade that is for our students.

In the Swimming competition, the BIS Barracudas received a podium finish in every event participated. A total of 18 Gold, 25 Silver and 15 Bronze medals were awarded to our students including 20 new school records. Even more recognition for our swimmers is that every BIS student received a new personal best time, which is an outstanding and proud achievement. Please see Swimming Results for a list of winners in each event.

Not to be outdone in the Athletics competition, the BIS athletes also received a podium finish in every event participated. A total of 23 Gold, 21 Silver and 19 Bronze medals were awarded to our students including 3 new school records. Please see Athletics Results for the monumental list of winners in each event.

Even though BIS HCMC won 2 of the 3 events, unfortunately it was still not enough to be crowned overall winners of the Global Sports Competition. Rules stated that a points per child entered ratio would be enforced throughout the competition. BIS HCMC had wonderful participation numbers and we had a multitude of students willing to be ambitious and compete in the series and test themselves against the world’s best student athletes. This meant that, alas, BIS HCMC finished second overall in the competition out of the 34 schools entered. This is still a magnificent achievement and is something that we can all be very proud of at the school. Please follow the Leader Board for a full list of the final placings.

It is fantastic that so many of our students were willing and able to participate in this Nord Anglia competition, an outstanding achievement to win 2 of the 3 disciplines and finish second overall in a truly global competition. We will surely be ambitious next year and once again go for gold in each of the NAE Global Campus sporting events.
