Official opening of the IB Learning Centre

16 October 2013

The new IB Learning Centre was officially opened on Wednesday 16 October by His Excellency Mr Robin Barnett CMG, British Ambassador to Poland.

A small group of special guests, including parents from the PTA and the School Strategic Advisory Board, were treated to a tour of the new three-storey learning block by the Head Boy and Head Girl of Primary and representatives of the Secondary Student Council, who all did a fantastic job of showcasing our new facilities.  These include the IB Learning Centre, Secondary and Primary libraries, modern language classrooms, two purpose built art rooms and a computer-aided design office. The inclement weather conditions didn’t stop the guests from being taken to see our magnificent new Primary playground as part of their tour.

The Ambassador, Mrs Iwona Thomas MBE and School Principal, Dr Terry Creissen OBE gave speeches to mark the auspicious occasion before a red ribbon was used to unveil a plaque to commemorate the opening. The Head of the Student Council thanked the Ambassador for participating in the event and presented him with a framed painting by a former IB student. The students did a marvellous job of serving refreshments to our guests in the IB Learning Centre.

The Ambassador and his team from the Embassy spoke highly of our impressive new facilities and praised the investments that are being made to improve opportunities for learning at The British School, Warsaw.
