Secondary School News 5 September 2014
Welcome to The British School academic year 2014-2015. The secondary school students appear refreshed and motivated to learn, and the teachers are busy planning all kinds of events in order to help our students develop in to well-rounded global citizens.
The first event is the opportunity to sign up to clubs and activities run by teachers. The list of clubs will be available on moodle by Monday evening and the opportunity to sign up with individual teachers will take place during assembly time on Tuesday. Please note that this event is for students only.
On Friday 12 September, Year 7 are going to Powsin for an overnight stay. They will find out more about each other ,their form teachers and Year Team leader. I will be joining thwm for some of the time and look forward to getting to know them all much better.
In the coming month, please note the following dates in you diary:

More details about each event will follow nearer the time.
The start of the school year is an important time for students at all stages of their education. Please encourage your child to develop good habits early. Regular meals, regular hours of sleep, regular times to complete homework and regular times for sport and other recreational or cultural activities. School punctuality and attendance is of vital importance for all students, and all students are expected to be in form rooms by 08.15. We are recording and analyzing data on student attainment linked to punctuality and attendance and we hope to share our findings with you later this year.
Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE) lessons are changing for year 7 this year. The year 7 programme is focused on ‘Learning to Lead’ and each student will be registered with the Chartered Management Institute in the UK; the providers of this detailed and interesting programme for schools. Completion of all of the modules of the Year 7 course results in a certificate awarded by the Chartered Management Institute, which can lead to a Diploma in the future. This is the first year that we are following this programme and I look forward to working with our future leaders in year 7 throughout the year.
