Feedback Matters! Parent Voice News

In previous years we have run Parent Forums in Secondary to give you the opportunity to offer feedback and air your views.

Follow-up Forums then gave us all the option to meet again and see what changes had been made based on this feedback.  In a constant effort to improve this process, we launched an initiative to find some Parent Voice representatives specific for each Year group.  The intent is that this will give parents a direct contact to whom they can relay information, opinions and concerns and know that these will then be raised at Parent Voice meetings with members of the Secondary School Senior Leadership team.

I am delighted to say that we now have parent volunteers for most of the Secondary Year groups – if you feel you would like to volunteer as the Year 11 or 13  Parent Voice Representative, then there is still time - I would be delighted to hear from you.

Very soon we shall be sending out a Parent Voice email address which you can use to send your feedback to the relevant representative. We look forward to gathering and acting on your feedback in order to improve our provision for our school community and will be sending out comprehensive minutes of the meetings held.

Secondary Academic Review Day

After a full half term of teaching, we are looking forward to welcoming parents and students to the first of this year’s Academic Review Days. As I type I can see form the Parents Evening System that over 50% of parents have already booked their appointments and the booking system does not close until next Monday at 4pm, so there is still time to make your appointments. After a review of the reporting timeline, we have incorporated more frequent reporting dates into the school calendar and started with a simple, but important report before half term on your child’s effort grades. These, coupled with further information shared with you at next Tuesday’s Academic Review Day, will give you a clear picture of your child’s effort, attainment and progress based on this term’s work. At the end of this half term, students in Year 7-10, 12 & Pre-IB will receive a full report including teacher comments. Students should take careful note of teacher recommendations from the Academic Review Day and will then have adequate time to act on them before the full report is written at the end of term.

We look forward to welcoming you to the IB Building on Tuesday.
