Students then listed people significant to them and then groups shared ideas and decided to rank the choices based on importance, from here students created a class list of 'most significant' to them. Students next began to categorise ideas and grouped them based upon what they are significant for and later when they were significant.
The next session saw the students take part in their entry point activity (a hall of fame). Learners used hoola hoops to sort the significant people in a gallery style having been presented with a wide variety of images of people the year 4 teachers perceive to be significant. Having grouped according to the reasons they are significant, we then created a timeline outside, based on when the children thought each significant person was famous.
The unit will continue for next 5 weeks.
