This week’s blog is all about our wonderful parent volunteers!

As a small gesture of appreciation, the PTA hosted our first Volunteer Appreciation Reception of the year. It was a wonderful time of friendship, community, and celebration of our shared successes.

PTA initiatives wouldn’t be possible without the help of Class Friends, International Volunteers, Christmas Giving Tree helpers, parent volunteers, home bakers and the like. THANK YOU for generously offering your time, talent, and resources. Every book read to a classroom, every muffin baked, every minute spent sifting through lost property, every henna design carefully drawn, and every charitable gift cheerfully given enriches the lives of TBS students, faculty, and staff.

As the holiday season approaches, there will be many new opportunities to share your time and talents. If you would like to become a part of our volunteer roster, please contact us via Facebook, or email our Events Coordinator, Jelena. It’s been said that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Please join us!

Thank you for your continued support,

The PTA Committee

Getting to know Vanika

Where would you call home?

India, but Poland is also close to my heart.

What languages can you speak?

Hindi, English, and Polish. I gave learning Spanish a try, but it looks like it’s not for me.

What brings you to Warsaw and what was your journey to get here?

My husband and I both are Indian and after our wedding I just followed him. Poland has been his place of business for the last 25 years.  It was not easy for me to settle down in those times when language was the biggest problem, but I can proudly say that I managed pretty well.

Who have you got at school here?

My daughter Gunjan, who is in final year of IB, has been at TBS since Year 1. My son, Lucky, is in year 7. So I really have an old relationship with TBS Warsaw.

Any other children?

My nephew Kacper completed IB last year.

Any pets?

We have a rather large aquarium at home full of fish coming and going.

How did you get involved in the PTA?

I don’t remember exactly, but I think I joined PTA as the India Country Representative when my daughter was in Year 6. I have also volunteered as my son’s Class Friend in Years 3 and 4.

What do you do with the PTA?

Recently, I have joined PTA Charity Team. This might look like an easy job, but believe me, there is lots of work to be done! It is especially busy during Christmas time when our team with the help of parents and students collect money and gifts for underprivileged children and families. Also, I am still an India Country Representative and during October I coordinate our part of the International Fair with my country friends.

Best thing about volunteering with the PTA?

OHHH I love this question!  The best thing about volunteering with the PTA is that I have learned the important process of giving and helping.

What would you say to somebody thinking about volunteering for the PTA?

Come experience the PTA and feel more connected with our school.

What’s your favourite thing to do with your family in Warsaw?

Not everyone in my family, but my son and I like to go for walks and bike rides or going out to try different food in the city.

Can you tell us a joke?

What happens to a frog's car when it breaks down?
It gets toad away.
