Message from Our Principal

On Tuesday, I enjoyed meeting with the leadership team in Year 13.

Sue Hill

The team have been looking at ways to support wellbeing in the IB College and were pleased to tell me about their morning radio show which permeates the social areas with a cheery welcome to the day. Discussions were also had about levels of awareness and perceived social responsibility when aiming to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, in addition to repeat testing for IB College students for COVID 19. I look forward to confirming the outcomes of our collaboration with student leaders next week.

Collaboration amongst primary students is of equal importance and is one of the personal learning goals expanded upon in this week’s article written by Ms Williams. I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with Year 5 students, in an assembly this morning, to set them a challenge which will involve a great deal of team work.  The Year 5 IPC topic has involved researching sources of energy and the benefits of renewable energy for our environment. Their task next week is to think about how we can make TBS Warsaw more energy efficient and sustainable and will culminate in a series of student-led presentations next Friday.

Primary students have also been invited to apply for the following leadership positions: Well-Being Buddies, Global Leaders, Digital Innovators and Eco Warriors. The characteristics needed for these leadership positions include communication skills, decision-making skills, strategic thinking and risk management so you can see that we are seeking ambitious students who really strive to make TBS the best it possibly can be. Following the selection of leaders, there is one final task for our Primary teachers, to select the Head Girl and Head Boy for the year ahead. I am excited to watch how these group ideas unfold.

On a final note, I would like to thank our PTA who are collaborating frequently and trying to find the best way of reaching out to our community in challenging circumstances. Creative ways of continuing with some of TBS great traditions of supporting our local charitable organisations will be communicated soon.
