Year 8 Drama students have been designing their own masks

This week, Yr 7 & 8 drama students were given the task of designing their own mask, and creating and developing a character through their creation. Students can make the character however they wish...happy, sad, angry, funny, serious, weird. Once the masks have been completed they must spend time in front of the mirror working on the character. Focus is on the the movement of the whole body as facial expressions are not an option.

And here is a couple of messages from students sent to me.

Chris Ernest

Drama Teacher

“Dear Mr. Ernest,

This is my work so far. I haven't done the mask myself tho, because sadly I don't have any materials to make the mask, but I have painted it. My character is going to be a happy character. It is trying to cheer people up.”

“Dear Mr Ernest,

I am sending my mask for drama. it is inspired by ' The Rime of Ancient Mariner' that we started in English. hope you like it. I am very excited by the fact of making our own character.”
