Kasia's Corner - Craft Activities from our Year 12 student

  • Pop up Boat

A pop-pop boat is a toy boat that is usually powered by a small candle. If you feel like everything else in your life right now is at a standstill, you can at least appreciate having your DIY pop-pop boat cruise around your bathtub! Maybe draw a little model of you inside and imagine what could have been of your Easter holiday…

Aren’t you curious to try it out? Turns out, its quite simple (and very fun) to make!  There are several variations on the of how to make one at home on the internet, however here is a link to one of the simplest versions:

https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-a-Pop-Pop-Boat/. All you would need is 3 cans, a candle, 2 straws, and some blu-tack. Of course, feel free to get more creative and make a different design!

What? Not exciting enough? I have not finished yet! After you make your pop-pop boat, you can send me a picture or video at Katarzyna_Murawska@thebritishschool.pl, and I will announce a winner with the most creative design next week, along with a brand new challenge!

If you would like an EXTRA challenge, try to find out how the pop-pop boat ‘engine’ works and why it can move on its own.

See you next week!
