Joanna Shepley Clarke

Head of English & Year 8 Tutor

After university, I took a gap year to travel and worked in Australia before returning to the UK to start a career in retail management. After three years, I realised that working in department stores was not for me and became a student again while I undertook my PGCE at Manchester University. I have taught in three schools in Manchester, UK, gained a Masters in Education and then the travel bug returned: in 2014 we moved as a family to Jakarta, Indonesia for three years and to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for four years.

I am originally from Derbyshire, UK and I enjoy returning to the UK to visit family and friends. My hobbies include yoga, swimming, photography and reading- of course. I really enjoy exploring new countries and love scuba diving (as a family we recently dived off an island in East Timor). My favourite underwater creature has got to be the manta ray and my goal is to see a hairy frogfish! After seven years in S.E. Asia, my family and I are excited to be exploring Poland and Europe.
