Gruffudd Jones

English Teacher, TOK and EE Co-ordinator & Year 10 Tutor

I graduated from the University of Kent with a BA in Film Studies and Computing, then from the University of Exeter with a PGCE in English. In the UK, I have taught English in Cornwall, Anglesey and Reading and I have also taught English as a Second Language in Fuzhou, China.

Since first coming to Poland in 1995 to organise workshops at a Mazury summer camp, I have returned regularly, taught English in Piaseczno for 3 years and taught at The British School Warsaw since 2003. My proudest achievement to date has probably been mastering the dance routine for the finale of the school’s ‘Back to the 80s’ musical production.

I was born and bred in Wales, so my introduction to the English language came initially via television and later books; I’m still very much interested in both and my favourite writers include Robert Holmes, Iain Banks, Alan Moore and Douglas Adams. I also enjoy writing, cycling, Polish winters, Doctor Who - in all its many forms - and attempting to outwit my pet Alsatian. I play guitar less often than I used to, which seems to please those who know me best, and computer games if I find the time.
