Nihan Baranska

English Teacher

I joined The British School Warsaw in 2012. I have a Master’s degree in Politics and Social Policy from the University of Nottingham and a bachelor’s degree in history at Bogazici University, Istanbul. My love for languages and humanities has led me into a teaching career. After obtaining CELTA and PGCE in English Language Teaching I worked for several years in Istanbul as a Theory of Knowledge and English teacher in IB schools and as a lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages at Bogazici University.

Travel has been my biggest passion as I love to explore new places and to learn about the history and art. There is nothing better than exploring a city with a guidebook in your hand.

I love reading and learning new languages.  I teach English, but I like to read for pleasure in French and in Turkish. My ambition of mastering the Polish language within the first two years of my life in Poland has sadly been held back by its extreme difficulty – I now see it as a shattered dream! Hopefully my half-Polish daughter will be much better than her mum.

For me, the highest quality learning means helping each student to realise their talent and to be the best they can be in whatever they are doing. In order for them to achieve this, I strive to make my lessons well structured, informative and engaging while keeping in mind that each student has a different learning style.
