Paul Mitchell profile

Mathematics Teacher & Head of Year 10

I have been teaching Mathematics at secondary, A-level and IB for more than 11 years. I graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2005 with a Secondary Education degree majoring in Mathematics.

In 2008, after moving and working in London for two years, I additionally gained my British Teaching Qualification (QTS) and continued to teach Mathematics and was the Assistant Head of year 10, in a comprehensive school just north of Camden. From 2009, I moved with my wife to Kuala Lumpur where I worked in one of the top British International School in South East Asia, Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, A large school of over 2100 students. During this time, I was appointed to the role of Assistant Head of Year 7.

I joined the British School Warsaw in August 2012 as a Mathematics teacher, but quickly took on the role as Head of Secondary Mathematics until 2016. I was promoted to Head of Year 10 and 11 and enjoy once again working more directly with the students.

TBS is a school with a good sense of community as I have had the pleasure of being involved in quite a few community projects over the years with students, parents and outside non-for profit foundations. We have worked together to help bring some happiness into other people’s lives.

I have always been into fast sports. Growing up and living on a large cattle farm in central Queensland, Australia I loved to come home from school and go dirt biking. Whilst living in Malaysia for 3 year I got into wake boarding and when I was not exploring Asia I loved to go surfing in Bali. Now that I am father, I love spending time with my kids.

Joining TBS has enabled me to continue my profession as an inspiring teacher and work at a school where students were reflective, resilient and determined learners. I have a real passion for being a mathematics teacher and being in the classroom. I relish the fact that students enjoy my lessons and want to learn mathematics.
