I graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA (Hons) degree in Modern Languages and European Studies. Having worked in state and private schools in the UK, I joined The British School Warsaw in August 1994 as the sole teacher of French and PE. During my time at the school I have occupied several positions of responsibility, including Examinations Officer, Head of Key Stages 3 and 4 and Curriculum Coordinator. I am currently Data and Assessment Manager, Teacher Cover Officer, SERCO SuperUser and Subject Leader for MFL, teaching French and German in the Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as PSHE and Enrichment classes.

In 1992 I had my first experience of Poland, working with a team of UK-based teachers and assistants as an instructor for the Central Bureau (UNESCO) at an English Language Summer Camp near Szczecin on the Baltic Coast. I returned as Group Leader in 1993 and 1994, and travelled extensively around Poland during the intervening periods, learning the Polish language and culture, and enjoying the famous hospitality of the Poles. This made the full-time move to Poland in 1994 an easy choice when the opportunity arose. It has been a privilege to witness the rise again of Poland to its rightful place on the international stage, and to experience the massive changes that have taken place over the past 25 years. These have been particularly noticeable in Warsaw, which has become a truly dynamic and exciting modern European capital. The School has mirrored this rise, undergoing exponential growth since its founding in 1992, and again it has been a privilege to work with so many colleagues, parents and students over the years. They have all played their role in the journey from being just another international school to the premium educational etablishment it has now become.

Away from work, I read extensively for leisure and to satisfy my curiosity about a variety of subjects; our world is endlessly fascinating. I have a great love of language and languages, and this enthusiasm has even survived years of wrestling with Polish. Sport is another passion, although unfortunately mostly from the armchair or terraces as a spectator these days. However, I do still actively enjoy the occasional game of squash, tennis and golf, having had to give up rugby, my first love, due to injury, lack of fitness and the relative youth of the opposition. Music is fundamental to life and Warsaw is at last, and happily, becoming a regular stop-off point for touring bands. My Polish wife works as a teaching assistant at the School. Both of our children have attended The British School Warsaw since Pre-Nursery, and are now fully bilingual and really benefiting from the great education on offer.
