Our Covid-19 Measures

On this page, you can find all the latest information about the measures that we have implemented to protect our community from COVID-19.

The strength of a community is tested and determined during difficult times, and this year has challenged us in ways that no schools have ever encountered before. These experiences have made us stronger as a school and as a community and have also equipped us for the challenges that may lay ahead in the months to come.

Update as of 18th January 2021

Currently, children from Years 5 -13 learn through our Virtual School Experience - according to government guidelines till 31st of January 2021.

Children from Pre-Nursery to Year 1 are allowed to attend Early Years Centre, and children in Years 2-4 can attend our Main Campus.

Our approach to safety and prevention

At the start of each half-term, we endeavour to offer school-funded testing for all students on or before the first day(s) back at school.
We are reviewing all of our bubbles to see if we can improve zoning even further
Based on recent outcomes of students’ test results, Year group bubbles can be treated as discrete entities therefore if we have a case in Year 1, for example, we will only have to consider closing this particular year group
Dependent on the outcomes of the track and trace procedures, any future closures may be restricted to one specific class rather than the whole year group
In the case of a COVID positive student being detected, voluntary testing will be offered for all students in the affected class or year group. The rationale behind this is tobring the children back to school as soon as it is safe
Voluntary testing will be facilitated for those who would like more regular testing. This will be an agreement between the family and testing company and will be paid by parents

Other information:

All school activities, like school trips and ski courses, as well as various extracurricular activities, will be cancelled.

We will continue to follow guidelines and take all necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of all students, colleagues, and the wider parent community at The British School Warsaw as a matter of priority.

Measures in place:

Minimum use of shared supplies.
Adherence to recommended guidelines for proper cleaning of our facility.
Disinfection stations situated around the school.
Hand washing facilities are available in the majority of classrooms with the exception of specialist facilities.
Disinfection protocols for high use areas scheduled throughout the school day and each evening.
Community education on classroom protocols.

Handwashing

All children will be given a lesson on how to wash their hands properly
Children will wash their hands for at least 20 seconds at these points during the day:

- On entry to school

- After going to the toilet

- After any outdoor play activity

- Before eating snack or lunch

68 sanitiser points were installed across our campuses.

Toilets

Children will be walked to bathrooms by an adult to ensure no other children from other bubbles are in the bathrooms.
Children will be reminded to wash their hands.
Children will have allocated toilets to use.

Masks

Children in Early Years Centre do not have to wear masks indoors, however children aged 4 and above should wear a mask on their journey to school and when entering the school site.
Children in Years 2-4 do not to have to wear masks inside of their classrooms but they MUST wear masks in common areas
Storage of a mask should be in a ziplock bag when not in use
A mask should be a cloth mask not a face shield.

Staff, students and parents should be alert for any symptoms of illness (fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, the loss of smell and taste) and will be required to stay at home if not feeling well.

Temperature checks

All staff and visitors on site will have their temperature taken on entry to the campus
Children’s temperature will be taken twice a day:

1- before they enter the classroom

2- before they go home

At the end of the day, the child’s temperature will be put on a small sticker.
Any adult or child with a temperature over 37.5 C will be sent to the nurse to be checked again
If a child’s temperature is over 37.5 C, parents will be contacted to collect their child.

The school bus between Limanowskiego and Dabrowskiego will operate normally

There will be three buses allowing children to remain in their bubbles which will not mix.
Siblings will have to go on different buses if they are in different bubbles.

Current social distancing guidelines will be monitored and required in common areas.
Nord Anglia Education require all schools to meet local recommended standards. In Poland, the recommended distance is 1.5m
Capacity limits will be in place in common areas and there will be no parent attendance at assemblies
Community education on guidelines for social distancing in schools
Parents will NOT be able to come inside the school without an appointment
Parent information sessions will mostly be held virtually via Microsoft TEAMS
We ask all adults to adhere to social distancing regulations and wear a mask when picking up and dropping off students on the school grounds.
