Martyna Kaldonek

Art has always been a part of my life,. Whether creating, admiring or sharing it. I set out to keep it that way in my professional life too. I studied Fine Arts in the picturesque town of Falmouth in Cornwall, surrounded by likeminded artists each following their own particular area of interest. It was an inspiring and enriching experience, and I produced many pieces myself that were later exhibited in London and Warsaw.

In equal measure to creating art, I take great satisfaction in sharing my passion with others. I completed an IPGCE that opened the door to teaching in an international setting - an exciting environment that is very familiar to me since I experienced it first hand when I was at school. The British School Warsaw is just such a place with many driven pupils, so I relish the opportunity to bring out the best in them and hope to inspire those that may not yet have discovered their interest.

I've moved no less than 20 times - living in Dubai, Australia, America, UK and now Poland, where my family is from and where my daughter was born. I've therefore been to many schools with a variety of schooling systems and have an international perspective.

I'm open minded, so you can talk to me about yoga, music, Rembrandt, pop or alternative culture, your favourite place to grab a bite in town, or whether your new diet is healthy. If you need to find me, look in the teacher's room or at the horse stables.

I believe that children learn best when they feel safe and are provided with an engaging, varied and thought-provoking curriculum. I also think it is important that children are involved in making decisions about what and how they learn. As a teacher, I see each child is different and as such has different needs to other children their own age; my job is to guide them to their next steps in their own learning process. I believe that learning should be both challenging and fun. I would like my students to finish the year with happy memories of their time in my class and a sense of the enormous possibilities that the future holds for them should they pursue their ambitions.
