After gaining my BA and Master’s degrees in Archaeology at the University of Liverpool, I completed the Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) through the West London Partnership and Roehampton University. After that I taught at Belleville Primary School in South London. For the last four years I have been working at the British International School Hanoi in Vietnam, which is also part of the Nord Anglia group, in both Year 3 and Year 6 and for the last two years as Phase 3 Leader. Living in a unique city like Hanoi was always exciting and taught me the importance of being flexible and adaptable.

Whilst at school and on my year out I worked in a voluntary capacity in a range of contexts, from running a youth club to working in a German kindergarten to volunteering in a British primary school. Having found these roles extremely rewarding, I was motivated to seek out further opportunities.

Whilst studying for my degree in Psychology and US Studies at Liverpool, I wanted to experience life in a different country whilst making a positive contribution to it so volunteered to teach English in the Ukraine. This experience inspired me so on completing my degree, I undertook a CELTA course. I taught English in South Korea, Thailand, Poland, Italy and Mongolia (even making a TV show there!) before retraining as a Primary Teacher.

Prior to studying BSc Business at Queens University Belfast, I travelled and worked across Norway, volunteered in a Costa Rican National park and travelled the world. During my time at Queens University, I realised I was passionate about education and wanted to make a positive change in the world so I decided to undertake the Cambridge CELTA course. After completing my Business degree, I immediately undertook my PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Buckingham. I have taught for 4 wonderful years in Kazakhstan, at Haileybury Almaty. I have taught Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5, while I was also Primary Math’s leader.

My first experience in teaching began in Leeds after having obtained a Creative Writing degree from Leeds University. It involved teaching asylum seekers elementary English so that they could build up the confidence to use it in their everyday lives. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, but I especially valued how they were able to express their cultural backgrounds to me with the English I had taught them.
