Nicholas Bentley

Year 10 Tutor, French Teacher

My undergraduate studies were in Paris where I gained degrees in French and Political Science from the University of London and the Sorbonne. I then combined these disciplines in a joint honours MA at the University of Vienna where I also picked up German. After a brief stint working in Politics in the House of Commons, I qualified as a teacher through the GTP and taught for several years in and around London, most recently as Head of MFL in Greenwich. I am very excited to be part of the teaching team at the British School in Warsaw.

I grew up in idyllic Devon in the South-West of England but foreign family holidays as well as school exchanges and village twinning kindled a fascination for exploring further abroad.

Before moving to Poland, I visited on many occasions and became a real fan of the country. When I decided that I wanted to live abroad again, Warsaw was the obvious choice and I am happy to call this city home. As a teacher, I love sharing my enthusiasm for languages as a key to unlock exciting cultures. As a lifelong learner of languages, Polish presents me with a constant and entertaining challenge.

My interests include quirky literature, cinema and television. I still keep a close eye on Politics. I am a keen cyclist and hiker as well being an enthusiast of many other sports as both a participant and spectator. My greatest passion is travel, exploring new horizons. However, I really enjoy visiting and rediscovering my previous homes as well as getting to know Warsaw even better.

Highest quality learning means equipping children with the very best tools for the best possible start in life. Learning should be broad multi-dimensional, allowing pupils to discover their passions. As educators, it is our duty to stretch, allowing everyone in our classes to realise their full potential.
