Head of Economics and Business Studies

I have been fascinated by Economics right from my graduation so the decision to do my Masters in the subject as well. I further did my Bachelors in Education as I wanted to pursue a career in academics meeting each day with new challenges and new hopes as myriad as the number of students. I also did a diploma in computer applications and the Cambridge International Diploma for Teachers and Trainers course to understand the teaching demands of international education. I have served in some of the best schools across India, teaching national and international Curriculum, in various capacities as a subject coordinator, middle school coordinator, IGCSE coordinator, apart from being an econ Facilitator, Form tutor, House Master and Head of the department  over the years. I feel enriched teaching the IB Econ Course through real world applications- understanding the global implications and challenges by endorsing the IB learner profile. It feels great to be teaching an informed gen-nxt, and developing a balanced, curious and reflective new world citizen!

Having completed teacher training in the UK I have been lucky enough to work in a great variety of schools and now find myself back in Warsaw after being part of the launch team for IB from 2001-2003. How things have changed since we moved from that tiny site at Orkana! I have taught in Kent, Perthshire, Sussex and Lancashire, working as a Head of Department and at various times as tutor, Housemaster and Head of Sixth Form. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Sussex with an MA in Education studies which had a particular focus on international education and specifically the IB Diploma Programme.

    Matthew Lennon

    IBDP Coordinator, Assistant Headteacher

    Matthew Lennon

I am originally from Liverpool in the UK, and studied Business and Leisure management at Manchester University, before completing my post-graduate in Education at the University in Bedford. I have had the pleasure of teaching both Business and Physical Education at GCSE, IGCSE, IB and A Level for almost 20 years. I joined TBS four years ago, after spending almost nine years in Asia, teaching Business Studies and Physical Education both at the British School in Tokyo, where I founded the Business Studies department and SJI International, Singapore. In my role as the IBDP Coordinator I am constantly amazed at how the IB Diploma shapes and forms students at TBS into students for the future. The academic rigour of the course, twinned with the holistic nature of CAS, TOK and EE allows students to develop a multitude of skills that they will continue to develop far beyond their university years.
