Christopher Young

English Teacher

I have been teaching English in British and international secondary schools for sixteen years. I hold a PGCE from Oxford University and a BA (Hons) degree in English from Strathclyde University. My teaching experience includes successful six year spells at Walton High School, one of the leading state schools in the Midlands of England, where I was Head of Year 11, and BISB, the Nord Anglia school in Bratislava, where I helped the English and TOK departments deliver consistently strong results at IB Diploma level. During this time I visited TBS Warsaw and was highly impressed with the intellectual curiosity of the students I met. I was convinced that it was an inspiring place to teach and learn, so I am very excited about joining the school.

As a Scot married to a Pole, I speak Polish in a specific way but overall quite well, I would say. My two children disagree. In my spare time I enjoy reading, which is a good thing considering my students' unquenchable appetite for new texts to analyse and discuss. I also enjoy playing the guitar, although on the advice of my family I have now retired from public performance.
