Katarzyna Plachta

EAL teacher, Head of Psychology

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Behavioural Sciences with emphasis in psychology.  I obtained both of these degrees from American universities where I spent nearly 10 years, not only pursuing my education, but also playing university basketball.

After having completed my studies in the US, I decided to return to the EU and pursue my career as a psychology and English language teacher.  In Poland, I completed postgraduate studies in the field of pedagogical preparation for teaching English language. For the past few years, I have taught English B in the Middle Years Programme, English language and psychology in the Diploma Programme. At the British School, I am teaching psychology and EAL.

In my free time, I explore the concepts of working memory and investigate its influence on language acquisition. I believe that each student is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere to grow emotionally, intellectually and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing a context that is safe, supports risk-taking and invites a sharing of ideas.
