Mathematic Teacher

My most recent posting is Leman International School, Chengdu, China. My wife and I have taught there for 5 years, during which it became part of the Nord Anglia Group. So we are continuing in a school which sets high standards, though we are looking forward to moving to a larger school were we will meet new colleagues and have new experiences with a European flavour.

I have taught for 30 years, 10 in China, 2 in Thailand, 1 in Qatar and 17 in United Kingdom. I have held some management posts but have returned to my passion, which is being in theclassroom with creative and inquisitive young people. I love Mathematics, but am also keen on most sports and have coached football for many years.

I am happiest when I am sat at home after a great day’s walk talking about the sights and people I have meet. It is similar after a day’s skiing or perhaps the first encounter with a new city. Maybe even better is when a student makes me think about my beliefs in a new way, particularly about mathematics.
