Bullying Prevention
The Secondary School has a number of initiatives in place to attempt to limit incidents of bullying.
An anti-bullying assembly is held during Anti-Bullying week each year in November. This makes students aware of what bullying is and what our policy is on dealing with incidents. Form time this week will also be used to deepen students understanding about issues surrounding bullying.
Small Form groups will help enable honest discussions about bullying and some time during PSHE lessons in KS3 and morning registration will be set aside to discuss these issues.
Healthy relationships will be units of study in the KS3 PSHE curriculum where links will be made to bullying. Other subject areas will also incorporate anti-bully messages into their lessons wherever possible.
A quiet area, known as The Harbour, will be set aside at break and lunch that the students know is a safe zone.
A Respect Box will be placed outside of the Assistant Head Pastoral’s office where students can anonymously post information about being bullied or if they witness bullying taking place.
