Miss. Marie Louise Anderson

Math Teacher

Maths Teacher

I am Marla Anderson and have had the honour of teaching children the beauty of Maths for over fifteen years. For the last eleven years I have worked in a secondary integrated education in Belfast, Northern Ireland, holding the post of Head of Department for the last two. Being passionate about my subject, I enjoy the challenge of encouraging pupils to see the patterns and logic across the subject whilst helping them realise that there are often many ways to find a single solution. I view myself as a teacher of children, rather than a teacher of Mathematics and strive to model a good example in all my interactions within the classroom.

This is my first step into international education at Nord Anglia BCB and it is a purposeful one for me as a committed lifelong learner, being attracted to the approach of holistic education and being internationally minded.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Mathematical Education, as well as being a Lead Teacher of Mathematics Mastery. I am also a qualified Restorative Justice Practitioner. I started my career in Manchester, holding various positions including Key Stage 4 Coordinator and Raising Achievement Coordinator. After living in Manchester, England, for seventeen years, I returned to my hometown, a small seaside town called Newcastle, to live closer to family and teach in Belfast.

Outside of school, I am committed to family and friends. A perfect day for me involves swimming in the sea, jumping from piers and having a lazy picnic at the beach. I also enjoy forest walks, listening to music, yoga, pilates and daily meditation. Of course, I am also a keen traveller!
