Deciding to combine her love for travelling and for teaching early on, she left Ireland to teach internationally and have the opportunity to develop as a teacher in new cultures, learn new languages, and see new places. For the past several years, Dorireann has taught in the UK, Qatar, Australia, Turkey, China, and Switzerland — and also spent some time travelling and volunteering in South America and South-East Asia.
In addition to teaching roles, she has also held management positions as Head of Primary PHE, Head of Year 7, FOBISIA Sports Co-ordinator and Deputy Housemistress of a Boarding House.
Dorireann strongly believes in a growth mind-set and continuously looks to upskill and challenge herself and her students: whether by learning to snowboard, taking Mandarin lessons, or attempting to cycle across the Alps! As a teacher, she aims to create a community where challenge is encouraged and celebrated, and an environment in which pupils can be ambitious and successful.
In her free time, she enjoys participating in rugby, hockey, hiking, cycling, water sports, and skiing whenever she has the chance. Her goal is to pass on her love of physical activity and to instil a life-long love for this in all her pupils, as inculcating good habits from an early age gives pupils the skills and mindset to enable them to lead healthy and active lifestyles in the future.
Before assuming her role with NAIS Dublin, Dorireann taught Physical Education and Science at a Nord Anglia Education school in the Swiss Alps.
