Lucy is a Dublin native and has worked in education for many years, specialising in the disability sector.
She is committed to the values of inclusion, dignity and social justice for students. She has spent many years working in a large clinic teaching independent living, literacy, art and life skills to students with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Lucy has significant experience developing customised learning programs for special needs students through co-ordination with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and social workers.
She is an enthusiastic promoter of self – advocacy. Developing students abilities of social engagement and assertiveness. She has a degree in Visual Communications with a special interest in Art Therapy and Child Psychology. She is trained in sign language.
She has a strong background in first aid, pastoral care and mental health awareness for children. She applies these skills to support the health needs of the children in the school.
She has toured with a theatre company as a stage manager for productions in Prague, London, Dublin and Edinburgh. Interests include painting and collecting vinyl.
