Another year, another spectacular Spirit Week at Northbridge! Spirit Week is a week when we have fun at Northbridge International School Cambodia dressing up and celebrating and letting creativity flow free. During Spirit Week we celebrate our Nagas school spirit, aiming to embrace ourselves and help make everybody happy.

Held from Monday 27th September to Friday 1st October, each day we wore a different costume to school. Some people made costumes from their everyday clothes, some people bought costumes and some people created their own, like Kaian from 5B, he made a robot for Space Day.

Monday was NAGA Day. We had to wear our NAGA shirts. NAGA represents our community because in some cultures in Southeast Asia the serpent gives us strength and beauty, health and life. That’s why we have a giant NAGA painted outside our library wall.

Tuesday was Beach Day. We wore clothes we’d wear to the beach, such as flip flops, shorts, t-shirts and sunglasses. Grade 5 challenged us to build a sandcastle. We could use not just sand, but pinecones, cardboard, paper cup and anything spare in our home. One student used pineapple to make their sandcastle!

Wednesday was Space Day, organized by Grade 3. The whole school celebrated Space Day by dressing up as anything that's in space. People dressed up as astronauts, stars, planets, and space vehicles. My Teacher, Ms Janine, dressed up as someone from Star Wars.

Thursday was Gaming Day. Everyone was super duper excited for this day. Jamie, from kindergarten, dressed up as a character from Among Us. For the activity the students went on a scavenger hunt. “We rushed around our houses to find an object with every letter of the alphabet,” said Siana.

Finally, Friday was Switch Day. Mr Martyn and Ms Noura switched roles for the day. Mr Martyn spent some time in Early Learning 3 teaching the three year olds! Ms Noura walked around visiting all the teachers and raising their spirits.

Mr Stu and Mr Paraic switched classrooms and laptops. Mr Paraic tried to talk with a deep voice like Mr Stu. “When he called out our names everybody laughed because he really messed it up!” said the students.

Spirit Day certainly lifted everyone’s spirits even though it was virtual again.
