Global Campus Programmes

Creative Writing Competition

As part of the “Be Ambitious” Initiative, students at Léman International School participated in the Global Campus “Creative Writing Competition”. The challenge was separated into age levels with varying themes that the students could write about.

In the Primary, the theme was “Down in the Dumps” and the students could focus on writing about a time that they have felt sad or “down in the dumps” or they could write from the perspective of a piece of garbage, a garbage collector, or recyclable material.

The Middle School students were challenged to create a short story about a utopian or dystopian city and the High School students had the freedom to write a short story with a theme of their choice.

With the top 15 submissions from Léman judged by our sister school, College du Léman, three of our students’ submissions were selected as winners for the Creative Writing Competition.

  • Rachel Wang in Grade 5 won for the Primary age group with her work titled “Down in the Dumps”.

  • Adia Semrau in Grade 7 won for the Middle School age group with her work titled “Year 2084”.

  • Danyal Bokhari, Grade 12, won for his creative story “The King of Lincadia”.

The students work will be published in the Nord Anglia Creative Writing and Visual Arts Anthology. Congratulations to the winners of this year’s competition!

Nord Anglia Education Global Campus has introduced the Visual Arts Competition, in which the students atLéman will have the opportunity to create a visual arts piece based on one of the winning story entries. All students Grades 2-12 will be encouraged to participate in this challenge. Again, congratulations to the winners and we look forward to more participation in the Global Campus Challenges!

Photographers of the Year competition

Congratulations to Adia Semrau for placing as a runner-up in the Global Campus Photographers of the Year competition. Her photograph, “Through a Child’s Eye,” is featured in the NAE 2018 calendar. Adia explained that the meaning of her photo is the idea of looking at the world through someone else’s eyes, or from a different perspective. The photo features a close-up of her little sister looking out the window.
