Kirsty Huskisson

Kirsty Huskisson

Subject Group Leader of Art & PHE

Although educated in the UK, Kirsty has been teaching internationally for 23 years, joining Leman in 2017 as the Primary Art Teacher. She has been the Secondary Art teacher since 2018 and Lead Teacher for Art. She is presently the Subject Lead for the Arts and PHE. 

Although educated in the UK, Kirsty has been teaching internationally for 23 years, joining Leman in 2017 as the Primary Art Teacher. She has been the Secondary Art teacher since 2018 and Lead Teacher for Art. She is presently the Subject Lead for the Arts and PHE. 

Kirsty graduated from the University of Brighton and completed her PGCSE at Westminster College, Oxford. Kirsty has received scholarships as a practicing artist in Africa, India and Japan and continues to exhibit her own work. The majority of Kirsty’s teaching years have been in Botswana where she worked for the British Council teaching and developing the Visual Arts curriculum as well as teaching in International schools. In South Africa, where she now considers home, Kirsty taught primary and secondary students and was also involved in creating the new Arts and Culture curriculum. Kirsty began her IB teaching in Brunei proceeded by Kazakhstan where she was Head of a large Art, Textiles and DT department.  She has supported her students through to Art colleges such as Central St Martins, Camberwell and Michaelis School of Fine Art. As well as being a passionate Art teacher she is also an experienced Textiles and Gymnastics teacher.  

Kirsty has two sons at the school, one in Year 7 and one in Year 13 and her husband is also with them. Together as a family, they enjoy exploring the more remote areas of China gaining a deeper appreciation of the rich culture. Kirsty enjoys creating her own Art, learning new techniques from her surroundings, running and giving courses for her colleagues’ well-being.
