Deriving from the picturesque city of gold, Johannesburg in South Africa. Kyla has worked in education since 2009, her focus and passion lies in Nursery and Reception Years. She joined the Léman International School family in August 2018.
Kyla completed her degree in Early Years Education in Johannesburg through the University of South Africa. From the beginning of her studies, she gained teaching experience through hands on involvement in the field when studying through correspondence and working at the same time as a student teacher in 2009. Her desire to teach was ignited through this experience and she was hired as an Early Years teacher in 2011 at the school in which she was working in South Africa. Kyla lead community outreach programmes which connected, unified, and assisted in the growth of the local and school community. She also coached age groups 3-6 years in a holistic programme of physical development.
In her spare time, Kyla loves exploring the areas within and surrounding Chengdu. She finds Chengdu to be welcoming, vibrant and vivacious. She especially enjoys experiencing the gastronomy of the city. She adores teaching the Early Year age groups as it encourages a fun, varied way of learning. Having had a diverse upbringing assists in Kyla’s approach to teaching. This moulds her outlook to education to be inclusive and engaging and foster self-motivated students, who grow in independence and build up self-confidence.
