Ms. Sylvetta Edwards is originally from the United States of America. She joined Léman in August of 2017 and currently teaches her favourite age group which is Year 2. Her passion to teach this age group continues to grow as she begins her 15th year of teaching.
Ms. Edwards is a highly qualified U.S. Teacher who earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Master of Education Degree from Cleveland State University. She relocated to Maryland, USA and began her career teaching ESOL students where she remained for nine years. Her next move was to Abu Dhabi, UAE where she taught for two years in the local public school system. Her next destination was Chengdu, China where she has started her fourth year teaching at Léman International School.
Ms. Edwards sincerely believes that she can make a difference in all of her students’ lives. As a teacher, she strives to teach the academics in a way for students to be able to grasp and understand the concepts to prepare them for the next grade level. As a role model, she strives to model and enforce the idea of appropriate behavior to help students work their way towards becoming successful. As a mentor, she strives to provide support and encouragement to help all students climb the ladder of success. She expects students to develop academically, behaviorally, and socially in her classroom. In her spare time, she loves to travel, as well as, meet new people and learn about their culture. She also loves to read, exercise, dance, and visit new restaurants.
