Music at Regents International School Pattaya
Your child will enjoy an exceptional musical education at Regents. Under the umbrella of The Juilliard School’s 'Creative Classroom', we offer a wealth of opportunities for students to express their musicality. Our curriculum is enhanced by our co-curricular programme, which offers a range of ensemble, production, solo, and cross-discipline opportunities.
Primary (early years - Year 6)
Students from pre-nursery to Year 6 enjoy specialist music lessons. From nursery onwards, children learn through the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Creative Classroom, which helps them to develop keyboard and instrumental skills, as well as cultural literacy, through a selection of 12 core works. Learning is supported by visits from Juilliard curriculum specialists and a range of singing and performance opportunities.
Ensembles including orchestras, choirs, percussion groups, and rock bands rehearse weekly in preparation for major concerts and recitals. Every student has the opportunity to learn an instrument with one of our specialist teachers who deliver our Instrumental Music Programme.
Secondary (Year 7-13)
At secondary, students benefit from an even broader range of opportunities. In Year 7, for instance, students study folk music, rhythm and pulse, composition, and performance. In Year 8, jazz improvisation, Indian music and recycled themes form part of the curriculum. In Year 9, students tackle soundtracks and film scores, rock ‘n’ roll, Samba, and more. Students can choose to study music at IGCSE (Years 10-11) and IBDP level.
Co-curricular activities
Our co-curricular programme, which is supported by the Instrumental Tuition Scheme, includes choirs, concert bands, orchestras, rock bands, a chamber orchestra, and more. Students perform regularly at events including Remembrance Day, Carols by Candlelight, and for Chinese New Year.
