Many of our students join us with English as a second language, at varying levels of proficiency, and the progress that these students make during the time that they are with us is a testament to not only their hard work, but the hard work and skill of the staff who support them academically and pastorally.
Our graduating students study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and our results are consistently above the Global Average Point Score. 2019/20 was no exception to this with our Average Point Score of 34. In addition to this impressive overall performance, many of our students had notable personal successes which reflected their determination and capabilities as learners – one of our students scored 42 points, three scored 41 points and two scored 40 points out of a possible 45, a feat only a small percentage of IBDP students worldwide ever obtain. This is the level required to gain admission to the world’s elite universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Stanford. Our students rise to the demands of this challenging qualification and make significant progress, both academically and personally.

Once again, we are above the world average, a remarkable result for a non-selective school. The results mean that our students will be able to go to their first-choice university. Our students have been accepted to top universities on four continents around the world including University College London, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the University of Edinburgh, Mahidol, the University of Amsterdam, the University of Queensland, and McGill University to study wide-ranging disciplines from the arts to business to medicine and engineering. In fact 25% of our cohort will be attending a top 50 university!
Amid the fantastic results, nine students earned prestigious bilingual diplomas studying in Korean, Thai, Chinese, German and Russian. Our students are truly well-rounded, ambitious global citizens, and we are excited to see what they do next” Sarah Osborne-James, School Principal said.
Academic success is also evident at iGCSE with 43% of our students achieving A* to A (7-9) grades in 2019/20, the UK averaged 27%. Overall 88% of Regents students passed with A* to C grades. As with IBDP, there were many notable individual successes: students achieving A and A* grades in all subjects and, equally as significant, students who achieve pass grades through determination, grit and resilience.
Many of our students join us at the start of Year 10 as the iGCSE courses begin, and our staff support each and every learner to achieve the best that they can. We set challenging targets, have high expectations of all, and encourage our students to be ambitious in every respect.
